Landlord Christopher Cox, 52 has been accused of asking women to provide a range of sexual services in return for accommodation in what is thought to be the first charge of this nature in the UK. Christopher is now facing two counts of inciting prostitution for gain and one for controlling prostitution for gain between May 2018 and November 2018. He is currently on unconditional bail until  March 25th when he will appear in Guildford Crown Court. Here’s the latest on the news story…

The Court Hearing

As prosecutors told Staines magistrates court, the landlord had allegedly been uploading adverts on Craigslist – where he targeted young, vulnerable and sometimes homeless women, offering free accommodation in his home, where ‘in return he he would expect them to cook, clean, do laundry and ‘possibly more’.

He was also accused of asking for pictures of women wearing bikinis and providing sexual services in return for accommodation. One prosecutor, Kimberly Grabban told the court via a video-link on February 24th that he wanted women to be willing to be tied up and perform bondage sex acts.

The case was brought to the attention of the police following ITV investigation where researchers had passed details on to police after accusations made on before an episode of The Kyle Files which involved one of the defendants.

Cox pleaded not guilty to the count of controlling prostitution between May 17 and June 27, but gave no indication of pleas to the remaining two counts.

Senior crown prosecutor Claire Prodger said: “This is a complex case and we have reached the decision following a careful review of all the evidence gathered during this period.

Criminal proceedings against this defendant are now active and he has a right to a fair trial.”
