Probably best known for the Jurassic Coast which is a stretch of coastline that runs all the way from Swanage to Exmouth, 95 miles long – the cliffs contain many fossils, and rock formations show millions of years of geological history. Also, along the coastline you can find natural prominent landmarks such as the layered cliffs at Lulworth Cove and an ancient stone arch at Durdle Door.
Dorset is home to popular beach towns such as Swanage, Bournemouth, Weymouth and Poole. These towns are popular tourist areas – Bournemouth has 7 miles of golden sandy beaches, beautiful parks and gardens and plenty of entertainment attractions. Bournemouth is also home to many students that attend Bournemouth University. Between Bournemouth and Poole lies the exclusive peninsula of Sandbanks, a collection of high end properties and an award winning beach. Home to celebrities and the like it has the fourth highest land value by area in the world!
Further in land lies some of the most beautiful Dorset countryside with a mixture of properties from listed farmhouses and buildings to more modern housing developments, mostly in the larger towns of Blandford Forum, Dorchester and just across the Dorset boarder into Shaftesbury. Dorset is becoming an increasingly popular county to move to from larger cities and development is present in the smaller towns and villages such as Sturminster Newton, Gillingham and Sherbourne.
